Seme Peter

Executive Director

Early Life and Origins:

My name is Seme Peter. My journey began in the heart of Africa, with roots deeply connected to three states of South Sudan, Congo, and Uganda
My early years were marked by challenges that shaped my path and strengthened my faith. My mother faced rejection when she was pregnant with me, and it was my grandparents who took me in, raising me with love and guiding me in the Christian faith.
A Call to Faith: Growing up in a Christian household, I attended church regularly, but it wasn’t until my teenage years that I felt a deeper calling. Watching the choir ministers stirred something within me, but at the same time, it pained me because I felt a deep desire to be among them. For years, I resisted, until a friend encouraged me to join the Anglican Church choir, a decision that became a turning point in my spiritual journey.
My grandmother often reminded me of the importance of taking Holy Communion, but it wasn’t until 2010 that I felt ready. During a youth conference that year, an evening open-air service was held near our church. The preacher, Mr. Philliam Okpoa, shared a story that resonated deeply with me—a story about a monkey in a forest enjoying honey while a fire threatened the entire forest. Despite warnings from other animals, the monkey continued to indulge, ignoring the danger until it was too late. The preacher likened this to our lives, where we are often engrossed in worldly pleasures, ignoring the warnings about the consequences. This message struck a chord within me, and when the altar call was made, I stepped forward, committing my life to Jesus Christ.
Walking with Jesus: From that moment on, my life changed. I became deeply involved in church activities, serving as a choir master at St. Barnaba’s Church. During this time, God gave me a vision to reach out to others who were lost, just as I had been. This led me to start writing songs, and eventually, I formed a group called Save Life Singers with my friends Pascal Bida and others. What began as a small music ministry grew into Save Life Ministries, an organization dedicated to reaching out to schools, churches, and communities with the gospel.

The Birth of Save Life Ministries

During my time at YWAM, we were taught about the Holy Spirit and the importance of writing down our visions. One day, I had a vision of the map of Africa with pillars rising up, and I heard the words, “You are the pillar of Africa.” This vision was shared by a sister from Australia, confirming God’s purpose for my life. With this affirmation, I continued to reach out to communities, sharing the love of Jesus Christ and seeing lives transformed.
God brought people into my life who shared the burden of this vision, and together, we have been able to reach out to many, spreading the gospel and saving lives. Save Life Ministries has grown into a movement, reaching not just Uganda but also neighboring countries. My heart is filled with gratitude for those who have supported me along the way, and for the family God has blessed me with—my wife Sailan and our daughter Nathania.

Challenges and Triumphs:

In 2012, my commitment to serving God caused friction with my father, who wanted me to attend his church. Our differences led to a period of estrangement, and I was sent back to my grandparents. Life became difficult, with no place to stay and financial struggles to continue my education and ministry work. I took up a job as a watchman, where I faced dangers, including an encounter with robbers. But through it all, God’s grace sustained me, and I continued my studies at Yei Vocational Training Center, eventually graduating.
One day, a Nigerian missionary noticed my situation and offered to send me for discipleship training. I accepted, and he arranged for me to attend Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in Yei. During this training, I experienced profound moments with God, including visions that confirmed my calling. One vision in particular, where I saw myself preaching with angels and clouds surrounding me, became a defining moment in my life. The message from Luke 4:18—“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor…”—became the foundation of my ministry.
Gratitude and Commitment: As I reflect on my journey, I am overwhelmed by the grace of God that has carried me through. I am deeply grateful to the many people who have played a role in my life— Sister Clara Hayat, Brother Pascal Bida ,Sister Sunday Rose, Mama Joyce, Sister Simone, Papa Jean, Brother Andre, , Papa Jack, Mama Jennifer Smith, Brother Okuonzi Charles, Sister Joanna, Brother Juma, and especially my grandparents and parents. Their support, love, and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the person I am today.
I pledge to continue serving God with all that I am, reaching out to save lives through the love of Jesus Christ. The vision He has given me is clear, and with His help, I will fulfill the assignment He has entrusted to me. Whatever it may cost, I am committed to being His vessel, just as someone once reached out to me
